Gene Moreno

 

 

Gene Moreno is TAMACC’s Parliamentarian. Mr. Moreno and his wife of 33 years, Ophelia, are both natives of Corpus Christi Texas.  They have three children, Geneva, Maggie, and Gene III. Mr. Moreno graduated in 1966 from Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi.  Immediately after graduating, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country until 1970.

Upon his release from the Navy, Mr. Moreno returned to Corpus Christi and enrolled at Del Mar College where he majored in Electronic Engineering.  In 1971 he went to work for Southwestern Bell (now SBC), where he has been employed for 33 years.  He presently holds the position of Director External-Affairs in San Antonio, Texas.

Mr. Moreno has held and holds several elected and appointed positions.   He served on the Goliad ISD School Board for Nine years.  He has been extensively involved with Chamber of Commerce activities during his career with SBC.  He served as Chairman of the Victoria Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for two years and on the Goliad County Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce Boards.  At this time, Mr. Moreno serves on the South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce board and the Executive Committee of the Texas Association of Mexican-American Chambers of Commerce.  In addition, Mr. Moreno has served on the Texas Municipal League Board of Advisors and is currently a member of the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Lower Guadalupe Water Supply Project.  In 2001 Mr. Moreno completed the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce’s, Leadership Lab Program.
