Sam Guzman

Sam Guzman is currently the Vice Chair of Economic Development for TAMACC. Mr. Guzman is certainly no stranger to TAMACC, chamber work, or economic development. He has held numerous positions on the TAMACC Executive Committee Board, including Treasurer and two terms as Board Chairman. |
In addition, Mr. Guzman managed the day to day operations of TAMACC as President/CEO from 09/2000 to 01/2002 and initiated the re-building of the organization which has steadily continued. Mr. Guzman has also served as Chairman of the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as well as continued to serve as a Board member representing the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber on the TAMACC Board for several years.
Mr. Guzman's background and experience is composed of an excellent and interesting blend of work and involvement in the public and private sector. He has held several top management and executive level positions in state government, including Director of Civil Rights Division of the Texas Department of Human Service then left the state after serving as Deputy Executive Director of the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. In addition, he ran the Austin Economic Development Corporation as Executive Director for seven successful years. He has also owned and managed two dry cleaning businesses.
At present, Mr. Guzman is very busy establishing a consultant firm which will be composed of Real Estate, Mortgage Lending, Financial Planning, Insurance, and Business Consultation under the umbrella of SGJ Essential Services.
Guzman’s past and present community and civic involvement, includes Leadership Austin, Travis County Appraisal District Board, Travis County Grand Jury, Austin Arts Museum Board, Youth Advocacy Program Founder and Chairman, SER Jobs for Progress Board Chairman, American G.I. Forum President, City of Austin Human Relations Commission, East Austin Optimist Club Charter Member and Board, Austin Independent School District Affirmative Action Committee Chair and Budget Committee member.
